Hey Charlotte!

This is your hairdresser Kristen :) I saw your post on facebook and had to comment since I'm missing my wonderful Mamaw on this beautiful spring day. My favorite baking experiences with my Mamaw were when all the cousins, Mamaw and I would make brownies. She would always let her lick the spoon.. her favorite part! She had a measuring cup made of aluminum that we called the "Tin Cup".. which she always argued that if it were tin, it would rust :) It was always a fun little joke. Ever since I can remember we have always argued over who got to drink from the tin cup. It always kept the milk SOO much colder, and we had a rotating order every weekend of who actually got it.

A couple of nights before she passed away (she was in hospice and couldn't keep much down) my two cousins and I stayed at her house. We wanted brownies really bad, but since she was having trouble eating, we decided to wait until she was fast asleep before we started.. which happened to be about 3am. (we also dyed my cousins hair in her kitchen at this time.. I was in hair school.. the color was bright purple.. haha) The smell of the brownies woke her up, though, and she ended up eating the WHOLE PAN! And kept it down! We cheered her on and poured her glass after glass of milk into the tin cup. It was a wonderful experience, even if we didn't get to eat any :) Makes me cry every time I remember my last night with her. It was wonderful. Now the smell of brownies makes me feel like I'm getting a great big hug from her.
